Youngstown, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini is expected to be named Youngstown States new head coach, according to a report. FootballScoop.com said Pelini has been verbally offered the position and plans to accept it. Pelini is a Youngstown native who will turn 47 on Saturday. He went 67-27 with the Cornhuskers over the last sever seasons, but was fired after going 9-3 this year. He will not coach them in their bowl game. He would replace Eric Wolford, who was fired by Youngstown State with a 31-26 record after five seasons, including 7-5 this year. Youngstown State won four FCS (then NCAA Division I-AA) national championships between 1991 and 97 under former coach Jim Tressel, now the schools president. The French duo won the the European championship in 2011 and 2012 and took the gold medal at the Cup of China this month. Ilinykh and Katsalapov are the 2013 European runners-up and finished fourth at the NHK Trophy. The Trophee Bompard begins on Friday with short programs and short dance.
